The Issue of Deportation

By Alvin Mason

Deportation is a hot topic today. Deportation is in the news constantly. All Americans should take a good look at all aspects of deportation.

First let us consider some of the atrocities that are taking place in some other countries. We see on the news starving children, wars where innocent people are killed, and thousands being displaced. If any of you lived in such a bad situation would you try to improve your life and protect your family? We all want the best for our children and ourselves.

America and other countries have let some atrocious behavior take place in some places while addressing other behaviors in other venues. Without getting political we all must admit that there are some situations in the world that could cause a prudent person to leave that situation. Thus the exodus of people from countries that have serious problems.

The reasons for leaving a problem country has similar rationales as moving to a better neighborhood or enrolling your children in private school in this country. A person who lives in a problem country can organize resistance or flee to another country. In some communities the citizens try to improve their communities by organizing neighborhood watch or having neighborhood meetings. However in some countries it is not safe to speak out or attempt to organize the citizens to confront an issue. In many countries the citizens don't enjoy the freedom of speech or the right of assembly.

Let us remember that America was born as a reaction to what the founding fathers thought was unacceptable behavior (see the Declaration of Independence).

America is not the only county with refugee and illegal alien issues. Now the issue has become a policy of deportation of all illegal residents. When statements are made that such illegal aliens are rapist and murderers than that is where deportation should start. There was an unfortunate incident that occurred in March 2017 in Montgomery County Maryland where a female student was allegedly raped in school. Both of the accused are said to be in this country illegally.

Also in the news are reports that aliens were captured at a stake out outside of a church. They where apprehended after they left the church. There is now a fear amongst some people that a roundup is coming.

This should be a no brainer, any veteran who served this country should not be deported or have any member of their immediate family deported.

My suggestion is simple. If you want to keep promises about kicking people out the country why don’t you do the following? Use the criminal data base and determine who the most dangerous illegal aliens are, then find them and deport them if they don’t go to jail first.

Isn’t that the best way to enforce the law and keep law abiding citizens safe? The criminals should be the first to go. The primary effort with deportation should be toward people who have serious infractions in this country.

The next best thing is to have an effective foreign policy that tries to make life better everywhere in the world.

Remember America has been blessed since it's birth. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.(Luke 12:48)

I personally would not want to face judgement, if I were responsible for seperating a family.

The last thing I will say is, when most public officials take office during their oath they say, "so help me GOD". I will encourage all decision makers to consider what GOD would do.
